Earning AA miles on Sri Lankan marketed flights

Earning AA miles on Sri Lankan marketed flights

    Hey Ben,
If I book a business flight from Colombo to JFK via Doha with cash on the Sri Lankan website, will I still earn AA miles for the Qatar operated segment from Doha to JFK? The flight still has a ‘UL’ number on the ticket since it’s marketed by SriLankan. Thanks

UL and QR are both One World partners so in this case it’s sort of a moot point. You should earn miles for the whole trip as long as you are in an eligible fare bucket.

Thanks – The reason I asked is because AA says this on their website:
“Earn and redeem AAdvantage® miles for travel on SriLankan Airlines within Asia and between Asia and:

Europe

Middle East”
There is no mention of flights to the US.

My guess is that is because those are all the regions that UL actually flies to. Mileage awards are based on the operating carrier so you should be fine.
