Credit Cards for Business use

Credit Cards for Business use

I have never seen a post about recommendations for business use. I charge $30,000 to $40,000 a month for business. As I look at cards with 2 times, 3 times, etc. multipliers, none of them work for me as most of my charges are for business supplies, paying vendors, etc. that do are not multiplied. Thus, I use American Express Platinum and AA World Elite Master card (the latter less so since american changed the Advantage program). What do you recommend?

Have you looked into the business version of the Amex PRG card as well as Chase’s Ink and Ink Plus cards? Those may have categories that suit your expenses. Even if the multipliers arent for things you make purchases in, I would still put spend on cards with transferable points – $30-40k a month is pretty significant

    Hi Greg!

There are lots of great business credit cards, and we do post about them sporadically, but you’re right — we could do better. You can look at the archives here, and see if any of this helps: http://onemileatatime.boardingarea.com/category/business/

Can you tell us a bit more about what you’re spending on, and what your travel goals might be?

I try to put as much on cc cards as possible. I use cards to buy computers, software, business supplies, pay vendors when possible. That is about 80% of charges. On top of that, there is travel and entertainment. I fly between 25k and 30k a year. I used to stay at Hyatt, but now spg properties. I use points mainly to get first class/business tickets for vacation travel and hotels. So far, I amass enough points to fly free on vacation once a year (eg. to Europe) and upgrade my self for domestic travel. I enjoy the benefits of the Am Ex Platinum (concierge and partners to transfer points. I also have AA world exec. card as I used to fly AA only, but I am considering moving to Delta. I enjoy AA platinum status perks (I got through a challenge) and lounge access. I have considered the SPG Business or Delta reserve, the latter would help me on frequent flyer status. In general, my goal is to maximize my ability use points on flights and hotels.
