Can I apply for 2 different credit cards on the same day

Can I apply for 2 different credit cards on the same day

I am planning to apply for the Citi-AA-Executive card and the Barclays Aviator card. I know that they are from different banks, but want to be sure there is no problem with applying for both card on the same day. I also know that they do not fall under Chase’s 5/24 rule, which I actually got out of in the middle of August. Should I wait until September 1st, or can apply now (even for a Chase card) since the required 24 month have passed since the last opening of a credit card. Thank you.

There’s no issue applying for multiple cards on a single day. Might not hurt to wait until Sept 1 just so it’s clear you’re past the 24 month rule.

Thank you! I will wait. On the little promo card I picked up from the Admiral’s Club lounge, the end date for the promo is 9/15/17, so it should still be available.

Daniel B, just want to clarify what you are asking. Neither card you mention falls under the Chase portfolio so 5/24 does apply to their approval. However, opening these counts will bump up your 5/24 count again so if there is a Chase card you are looking for you should apply for that before applying for the AA cards.

For Citi cards, I’m sure you know it’s both opening and closing that would need to be taken into account for bonus eligibility unless the offer does not contain the 24 months language.

    Good luck.

Yes, absolutely, I knew all the rules and regulations, but I also read somewhere that unofficially Citi started to look at the 5/24 thing as well. It might have been a false info, but after I got burned in April of this year when I applied for the United card with 70k promised sign up bonus (my application got rejected, because I was an authorized card holder on 3 of my wife’s cards) I was a bit worried. Since the Admiral’s Club access was my wife’s wish, that is why I wanted to be sure that we did not get rejected when she applied for the Executive card. In fact, tonight we called in to apply (figuring that if there are any problems, a live agent could hopefully help), and the application got approved instantly. I am very happy because now she can start using the Admiral’s Club.
This Friday we will both apply for the Barclays Aviator card using the OMAAT link.
Thank you to both of you for your advice.

@MidSouth Skier and @Gaurav : Just FYI: me and my wife both applied for the Barclay Aviator card today using OMAAT link, and got approved instantly. The weird thing is, that even though we have almost identical FICO scores, her credit limit was $25k, mine only $5k……..

Guess that means it’s her turn to treat you!
