Why bother with everyday spend?

Why bother with everyday spend?

  1. Anonymous Guest

Many miles/points sites, including this great one, discuss 5x/3x/2x “everyday spend” categories on credit cards. But the return on signup bonuses is so much higher (20x-30x), so why are people discussing “everyday spend” at all? I’ve been doing this about 18 months, almost exclusively on signup bonuses. But then again, maybe I’m missing something.

    You’re not missing anything!

It’s two-fold: 1) Some people have a lot more monthly spending than can be covered by minimum spends for signup bonuses. 2) When you’ve been playing for several years you can’t always take advantage of as many bonuses in as short of a time span, so maximizing your spend becomes more important.
