What is the best credit card for Home Improvement?
Hello Lucky and others,
I am about to start remodeling a house and I was wondering what the best credit card would be to put my spend on. I’m hoping to find something with a good bonus category. I have the Chase Freedom that will do well in the second quarter but is there a good card for the rest of the year?
Chase Freedom also does well this quarter — gas stations. Some of the gas stations around here sell Lowe’s & Home Depot gift cards. I just bought my new fridge using this method. Bonus: After buying the Lowe’s gift cards over a few weeks (didn’t think it’d look too good to have a sudden single $1500 charge at Wawa), I then used Shop Through Chase to get an extra 3x points boost. So my $1800 fridge ultimately scored me:
5400 UR points via Shop Through Chase
7500 UR points via gift cards purchased at a gas station
300 UR points via straight purchase with Chase Freedom card.
13,200 UR points for my $1800 fridge.
For a higher dollar amount, I’d imagine the Chase Ink cards would be a good bet. 5x UR points at all purchases at office supply stores (up to $50,000 per calendar year). Many office supply stores sell gift cards. That’s potentially 250,000 UR points there. When stacked with the current 3x Shop through Chase bonus, there’s 750,000 UR points you could earn there.
