United MileagePlus Chase Card Bonus

United MileagePlus Chase Card Bonus

  1. Anonymous Guest

    Hi There,

I am a United loyalist (sadly, I guess, but also have other cards like Citi Prestige/Premier, SPG, AMEX Gold, Chase Sapphire/Ink, etc). 2.5 years ago I got the United MileagePlus Explorer card. I have left it open but haven’t put purchases on it in a while.

They recently announced a 70,000 mile (+5000 miles when adding authorized user) bonus. They say that you can get the bonus if you don’t have the card and haven’t received a bonus in two years (which I haven’t).

I’d like to pick the card up again to get the bonus, but am wondering if I cancel the card, can I immediately apply for the new one? How long would I have to wait after canceling for Chase to know that I “don’t have the card”? The increased bonus is available until June 30th.

    Thank you!

I would cancel and wait a couple of days and then apply. Technically you should be able to do it right after you cancel but better safe than sorry. From some reports the UA cards are now under the 5/24 umbrella so just be aware of that if you apply.
