Planning a trip to Japan-New to miles/points
Hi Lucky,
I would like to travel with my partner to Japan in the next year or so and I am new to the points/miles game. I live in California and can easily fly out of SFO. Can you tell me what credit cards would be best for paid flights/hotel stays for a trip to Japan?
Thanks,
Susan
Hi Susan! Do you have any miles/points available at present, or are you starting from absolute scratch?

I’m basically starting from scratch…I recently opened a Chase Sapphire account and my next account I was planning on opening was the Starwood Amex before the 30,000 bonus expires. I also have the Hawaiian airlines account with the signup bonus and about 30,000 pts in my WF rewards program.
@SusanC23 – are you looking for economy seats or premium cabins? That will make a difference. Check out this article from last year from the team at TPG:

It’s a year old so keep in mind that some things may have changed a little but it’s a good place to start.
MidSouth Skier: I would like to fly in business or first class. And thanks for the link, it was very informative!
