Paying via CC with a surcharge

Paying via CC with a surcharge

  1. MidSouthSkier Community Ambassador

It’s coming up on time to sign up for next year’s ski trips and our tour operator will allow us to pay via credit card for a 3% surcharge. In the past I’ve thought that’s not such a good deal but if I pay with a CSR and get 3 points per dollar and each UR is worth (by Ben’s estimate) 1.7 cents per point – or even the minimum of 1.5 cpp when shopping through the UR portal – wouldn’t I still come out ahead using the card? Am I overthinking this or is there something I haven’t considered?

By my calculations and Ben’s Valuation of UR points, you make $2.25 on each $100 of ski tour charges.

    $103 x 3 = 309 points x .017 = $5.25 – $3.00 (tour operator cost for credit card use) = $2.25/$100 of spend.

    I’d do it.
