IT dysfunction at Delta and American Express

IT dysfunction at Delta and American Express

  1. Anonymous Guest

Ben, here’s a tip. Over the past month (according to a Delta agent), users of new Delta Skymiles American Express cards are being charged for tickets that Delta isn’t issuing and neither company is correcting the issue.

Last week I used a newly issued AE card to purchase a Delta flight. I was issued a temporary ID# to use until the physical card came in the mail. The temp ID# kept being rejected as invalid on the Delta site, but the charges kept showing up on my AE account each time the Delta agent tried to book my flight. At one point there were seven charges on my card and no ticket issued. After a half dozen calls to both Delta and AE, each kept telling me to call the other company (bullshit menus and long holds each time of course and agents who couldn’t tell what the problem was). The last straw was when AE told me the problem was with Delta rejecting my confirmed ID# and I should ask Delta to reverse the charge. The Delta agent told me to call AE because their temp ID code was invalid. The AE agent said the problem was with the Delta system. I explained that I had not been issued a ticket and asked her for a conference call with Delta so the two of them could fix their problem instead of abusing me and batting me back and forth between them like a tennis ball. The agent refused.

I am filing a complaint with the Consumer Financial Protection Agency (god bless Elizabeth Warren).
My question is, how do I get Delta to cancel the charge? I have since booked the flight with another card.
