Getting the SPG AmEx Business Question

Getting the SPG AmEx Business Question

  1. Jim Patrick New Member

So with the AmEx business (already have personal) now at 35K for a sign-up bonus, my wife and I are now considering getting it, since we’re almost certainly unlikely to ever see a higher bonus before this card potentially goes away with the merger.

Anyhow, long story short, we do not own a business. My wife dabbles online w/ Etsy, and I have a small website and sell things here and there.

So long story short, if I apply for the card without a Tax ID #, and just use my SSN, are there any issues, risks, etc that I run? Any tax issues? (Obviously yes, the correct answer is talk to my accountant, which I will…but he’s obviously busy during tax season, so just asking here while the offer is up).

Any insight on getting this card w/o a Tax ID # is greatly appreciated. Especially if there is anything I should be concerned about.

You should be able to enter your SSN and apply for the card since the Etsy business can be considered a sole proprietorship

You actually have genuine ways to prove that you have a business. People without any business claim businesses and apply for cards.
With an etsy storefront and a website with selling, I think you are in good hands.
Apply with your SSNs and if questions come, you have proof to cover your grounds.
    Good Luck!
