DC ThankYou Points not transferrable to airline

DC ThankYou Points not transferrable to airline

I just posted about this in the Citibank forum of FT – the short version is that apparently DoubleCash-converted ThankYou Points go into a separate pool that isn’t transferrable to airline partners – in fact they’re basically useless, because all you can do is redeem them for gift cards or buy things on Amazon with them, which would be easier if you just took the cash back… Does anyone have experience with this? I got off the phone with several reps who confirmed this is how it’s supposed to work, but that’s directly contradicting what Lucky and other points bloggers have said.

I called again (HUCA ftw), and by avoiding any mention of the account types or points, just specifically saying I needed my ThankYou points accounts merged, they went through with it. Just took a few tries, I guess, and some reps that don’t actually know how points work.
