Citi Aadvantage Cards…
I already have the Citi Aadvantage Platinum Select card, however I’m wondering if I can apply for the Citi Aadvantage Executive card, as a second account, yet also get the 50K mileage bonus after the spending requirement. I’ve had the first card for several years already now. Citi keeps pushing me to “upgrade” my card, but what’s to stop me from applying for a second account and banking the sign on bonus?
You sure can! I’ve had my Citi AA Plat card for over 20 years and signed up for 2 AA Exec cards back when they had the awesome signup bonus.
Citi has the restriction where if you received a bonus for the same “type” of card within the last 24 months, you’re not eligible to receive a bonus. http://onemileatatime.boardingarea.com/2017/02/06/citi-card-24-month-rule/
If you applied for and received a bonus on the AAdvantage Platinum Select more than 24 months ago, then you are eligible for the bonus on the AAdvantage Executive card. If it has not been 24 months since you received the bonus, you’re not eligible.
