We recently switch our business banking to Chase and are currently reviewing the best credit cards they offer for UR points for business class travel. We currently have SPG, but Chase is offering some benefits, such as “purchase control”, so we can give most of our trusted employees a credit card. Is the Chase Ink Business Plus card the best route for us, or should be be considering a card outside of Chase bank?

The Chase Ink is a pretty compelling card. I’ve heard of more lucrative in-branch bonuses but even the standard offers are pretty good plus the 5x at office supply stores and 2x at hotels is a nice option. UR points are flexible and with SPG merging with Marriott, might offer a nice option to move to. Of course you need to weigh this with your spending and redemption patterns to see if it is a good fit for you. If you pair the Ink with something like the CSR then you points are worth 1.5c at the very least.

The 5X at office supplies, etc., does that payout stop at $50k annually or total?

Annually.

Also the 5X is 5 Ultimate Rewards per dollar. You can get more than 5% cash back if you play the cards right.

As a newbie, I’m not sure I follow?

Well, since you already have the reserve, you can transfer to get 1.5c of value at the very least from your UR points which means that your return is at least 7.5% at office supply stores, phone service, cable tv, internet etc. Redeeming for premium cabin awards can produce even more value depending on how you value your redemptions.

I suggest you read a lot and ask more questions to get a hang of it. It starts off as a toughie but if you fly business class once you will get HOOKED UP.

That’s the problem. I took a trip earlier this year flying Jet Blue Mint SFO tof JFK, then Singapore A380 business to Frankfort, and the new Aer Lingus Business class home. Work trip. Totally hooked now and literally go to sleep every night thinking about my next “score”. Love how everyone is willing to help. Thanks.

Path to redemption is fun and exciting for some. Not for everyone.
