Chase Freedom Unlimited/Chase Freedom Issue

Chase Freedom Unlimited/Chase Freedom Issue

So it appears that Chase may be trying to dismantle the Chase Trifecta…

I did know about the multiple Sapphire card restrictions, but didn’t know about the Freedom restriction.

I applied at the same time for the Chase Freedom Unlimited as well as the Chase Freedom card so that I could start working on accumulating UR points. I was approved for both of these cards, only to find out yesterday when I received my two cards, that the Chase Freedom account was closed!

I called in today to find out what happened and I was told that because I applied for two cards at the same time, the second application didn’t “see” that I had been approved for the first card and approved me in error. I then asked if I needed to wait for a period of time before I could reapply for the Chase Freedom and I was told that I could apply for any card at any time. So I applied again and was denied for a second time.

I ended up calling the “Reconsideration” line (which the first customer service rep told me didn’t exist) and after research, he told me that they would not give me two Freedom cards at the same time. I had to wait 24 months before I could apply for the Chase Freedom card because I already had received the Chase Freedom Unlimited card. I called and spoke to a third person and they told me the same thing.

So apparently they no longer allow you to apply for two cards under the same “umbrella” at Chase. Very frustrating!

I have an 850 credit score which they did tell me that my credit report/history had nothing to do with the denial for the card.
