Amex Platinum Authorized Users
I have the American Express Platinum and read that it allows up to 99 Amex Gold cards to be added as authorized users without a fee. Do these authorized user gold cards earn the same bonus spend (the 5x on flights and hotels) or do they earn the typical gold card bonus (4x on restaurants and US supermarkets)? If they earn the gold card bonus categories, am I able to add myself as a gold card to take advantage of the additional bonus categories with that card?
Appreciate the help!
I don’t know for sure but I suspect they earn based on Gold card categories. And I doubt you can add yourself as a AU.
Gold cards issued as an authorized user card from a Platinum cardholder earn based on the Platinum card’s reward program

Thanks David! Thought I might have found a good loophole for a second
