Amex Plat-$50 offer for Best Buy & Home Depot

Amex Plat-$50 offer for Best Buy & Home Depot

Does anyone have any data points regarding the $50 ($100 total) offer for shopping online at Home Depot & Best Buy? Specifically, can you get both credits (so $100) with one transaction if my purchase is over $100? Or is the maximum $50. Thanks.

My $162 purchase at Best Buy triggered a $100 credit from Amex, to my surprise. I believe it’s the same with home depot.

My $150 purchase at Best Buy triggered the full $100 credit from Amex. My $107 purchase at Home Depot did not, unfortunately (this was last week)

Thanks! Any chance you also used PayPal for the purchases to trigger the $30?

Nope, I did not use PayPal to try and snag both credits at once. I was tempted, but there were actually a few examples that others commented about in Ben’s original blog post on the article, saying that PayPal didn’t work when combined with the Best Buy/Home Depot offer.

I think the PayPal credit is even easier to use generally, so didn’t bother taking the risk to see for myself

I did use Rakuten though, and that always works, so make sure to at least take advantage of a shopping portal
