Qatar blocking ONE WAY FIRST CLASS from Sydney to Doha?

Qatar blocking ONE WAY FIRST CLASS from Sydney to Doha?

  1. Anonymous Guest

    Hello everyone!

I’m trying to book a one way ticket from Sydney to Doha with Qatar using Avios from British Airways.

There are some available seats in March, but once you select there’s an error message “Sorry there is a problem with booking this journey online. Try selecting other flights”.

I called BA about this and they told me that I had to book a round trip.

Later than I checked the flight from Doha to Sydney, one way, and this one is available to book, no error message. 200k avios plus taxes.

Does anyone know why that happens? Why someone can book a one way first class from Doha to Sydney but can’t book a way from Sydney to Doha? Does that make sense?

    Thank you very much.

I doubt QR is blocking the space. My guess is that it was ghost space which does happen from time to time with the BA search engine and the rep made up an excuse. Try double checking the space with Qantas or JAL.

First of all, there is no first class on Qatar B777 flying to/from SYD.

Secondly. QR is known to use all sorts of blocks and filters as they are not happy Oneworld members and hate people redeeming through AA BA and whatnot.

Yes, there is a first class as the flight is operated by Airbus A380. Flight 909.

Thank you, Gaurav. The spaces are available on Qantas as well and it seems that there is no problem with the redemption with Qantas, as they show the necessary miles for the flight. I think I’ll have to choose another flight to use avios. Thanks again.

QR makes redeeming partner miles intentionally as hard as possible. I have noticed several routes where award space even in economy is only displayed for a couple of hours per day.

200k Avios plus high surcharges are not worth it IMO. EY has much better seat.

You could also try calling BA. If it is a technical issue with the website then they should be able to get you ticketed over the phone.

And your proof @SpoiledBrat? I have booked numerous Qatar rewards in all classes all over the world without issue.

This has no basis in fact.
