Just found out today that the sweet spot to purchase additional miles when buying an award ticket through lifemiles has changed. It used to have a range where it would sell 1,000 miles for $15, usually when the amount of miles being redeemed was between ~45% and ~60%. Today I tried to purchase a one-way ticket from BCN to LIM and it no longer provided this range. Nonetheless, now there is an even sweeter spot if redeeming ~48% of the total cost and buying ~52%, as the cost per 1,000 miles becomes $14.80. Please view chart:
