Booking BA award for friend

Booking BA award for friend

The British Airways website won’t let me book an award for a friend using my points. Not sure how new this is. I booked an award for a friend earlier this year with issue.

The flight is short-haul domestic AA flight. Everything flows as normal until the passenger details screen. My name is hard coded and can’t be changed. Clicking a “Why can’t I change these details?” link at the bottom tells me I need to call in. I assume this will incur a fee.

Will forming a household account that includes the friend provide a work around. Or am I stuck having to call in?
