BA Avios Sale

BA Avios Sale

    British Airways currently has a new promotion;

    Promotional Offer
    Get up to 45% bonus Avios when you purchase or gift Avios between 12 November 2018 00:01 GMT and 25 November 2018 23:59 GMT. Plus, purchase limit increased to 200,000 Avios.

    This means that if I purchase the maximum of 200.000 avios, I’ll get a total of 290.000 with the bonus. For a price of EUR 3600.

    My question of course is, if this is a good deal, and what about awards for First Class tickets on BA or Oneworld Airlines, will this total of 290.000 avios give me a couple of return flights in F on these airlines between Europe and the US or Asia.

    Since Avios are priced per-segment the best value for Avios comes from short, non-stop flights. That being said there are times when you may want to use Avios for other purposes.

    You’ll also have to pay fuel surcharges and that can be in excess of $500 USD each way for long-haul segments in a premium cabin.

    On the plus side, you can usually find award space on BA. You’ll just have to crunch the numbers for yourself to see if it makes sense for you.
