I have like a 16-hour layover on my way to Amman so I will certainly be taking advantage of Emirates Dubai Connect. I'm keeping my hopes up that things will be stable by then but Jordan intercepted Iranian ballistic missiles less than a day ago! I'm most excited about having Tandoori Lobster on the DXB-AMM A380 flight, not to mention gorge on every single pastry available in the A380 lounge. The only other time I ever had lobster on a plane was on Singapore Airlines First Class. And kudos to Emirates for publishing their menus so far in advance; they've been available at least since January for my September/October flights.

@Ricky
Just got back from 10 days Amman, in Emirates Business class (DFW-DXB-AMM), with 24 hours Dubai Connection that Emirates offered and arranged because they canceled a connecting flight DXB-AMM, so I had to leave DFW one day earlier, enjoy DXB for 1 day and then limo back to airport! Absolutely fantastic, all around. ZERO problems due to regional conflict, Jordan a delight. Weather was also 5-star and should be in September also. Hope your trip is the same!

Be aware that the Dubai Connection desk has TWO parts...Economy and Business/First class. Go to the latter but if no one is staffing it (because few passengers), ask at the Economy Desk right around a glass wall, for assistance and they will send someone over. There were 5 of us waiting for about 30 minutes, until one of us went and asked for someone to come over.

Another tip: Credit cards are not widely accepted. AND, take ONLY USD that are NEW, with the navy blue stripe on them. The banks and exchange houses will NOT accept USD that are "old" or maybe before 2013.

I don't know the business side of your website, so please take this simply as feedback from a long-time reader.

When an existing article is refreshed without clearly indicating what's new, I don't find it especially useful. I'm already familiar enough with this stopover program that I'm not going to reread the entire article, and with a quick skim it's impossible to tell what has actually changed because those updates aren't highlighted. At the same time, a general summary of a program like this is something that readers can now easily generate on demand with AI.

Perhaps you're doing fewer review trips these days and want to supplement your site with "news" and "program summary" content like this. But this site isn't the strongest source for travel news because new information is often buried within a lot of reused content. For example, I always appreciate learning about AF-KLM's monthly Promo Rewards and Bilt's Rent Day promotions, but a large portion of those monthly articles repeat the same background information each time, and they're not written in a way that makes the new details easy to spot (i.e., bullet points). I think it would be more reader-friendly if "points news" articles focused on just the new promotions and linked to a more comprehensive background article for readers who wanted additional context. Frankly, for useful points news like that, Freq Miler is a more efficient source, and for useless points news, there is always VFTW.

I realize there may be another reason for refreshing articles like this. Three months from now, someone searching for information about the Emirates stopover program should ideally find an up-to-date guide. That makes sense. However, I think that goal is undermined by the site's search functionality, which unfortunately has never been particularly effective. For example, if I search for "Dubai stopover" on your site, I get results like:

Royal Brunei Modifies Longhaul Route Network, Cuts Dubai To London Flight (8 years ago)
Iran Fires Another Missile At Dubai Airport, Apologizes, Promises To Stop (4 months ago)
Qantas Singapore Lounge Woes – Too Many Passengers, Not Enough Space (8 years ago)
Alaska does allow Mileage Plan redemptions on Emirates to Europe… (13 years ago)

The actual Emirates stopover article doesn't appear in the results at all.

Ironically (and perhaps unfortunately for you), keeping this article refreshed like this just makes an AI tool's job even easier: if I google search "Dubai Stopover", the top result is not OMAAT, as it might have been a few years ago. Now the top is Google Gemini's summary of the Emirates Dubai stopover program, which is probably using your article as a source.

This story pleasantly reminded me of an experience a coworker and I had during an extensive layover in Dubai in the early 2000s. We were on our way from Bangkok to Nairobi, Kenya, and had about 18 hours to kill at the airport. I don’t remember which airline we were flying.

We both had PriorityPass, and there was a lounge that advertised that it was open 24 hours a day. We decided to camp out there and see how long they would let us stay. The staff there were very nice, and the facility was luxurious, but as we approached midnight, they said that they were closing up and would reopen at six AM. Then they did the unthinkable. The very nice lady in charge said that we could stay in the lounge while it was closed and exit when we needed to get to our five AM flight. While we could exit, we wouldn’t be able to get back in, since the door would lock automatically. She left us some non-perishable snacks, and we had access to some sodas, water, etc.

What was really amazing is that my coworker (Claire) was a woman, and I am a man. So to let us stay was beyond belief. I think that outgoing Claire had ingratiated herself with the staff so much that they felt safe in leaving us there, although their liability would have been very high.

Can you imagine that ever happening today?
