Extra Legroom Benefit for Alliance Partners

Does anyone have advice for securing extra legroom economy seats for alliance airlines that is not the airline in which you earned alliance status? I'm Star Gold by virtue of United but cannot assign extra legroom economy seats on Air Canada, etc. without paying fee.

Air France ripoff

My wife purchased a round-trip ticket from Phoenix AZ to Paris France for $2880.53. The ticket was listed as changeable at no charge. When we changed the return date from August 30 to September 22, Air France charged us an additional $1238.50, claiming that they changed the fare basis. When I checked the flight on their website, it was listed at the same price as we originally paid. When I asked for a refund of the $1238.50, they canceled the flight.

At this point, we have paid $4119.03 and have not received what we paid for, a round-trip flight, only the one-way flight to Paris.

I requested that Air France refund the additional fee of $1238.50 and honor their commitment to provide a return flight for my wife at no additional charge.

I have filed complaints with the French MTV, the US Department of Transportation, and the Better Business Bureau.

Any suggestions would be appreciated!

Business Class to New Zealand

I live on the west coast (Seattle area) and New Zealand has been a bucket list trip for many years. We want to fly there next year for our 10 year wedding anniversary but I haven't had much luck finding business class fares that aren't exorbitant. I've consistently seen 300k one way, per person and that's just beyond our modest stockpile of points. Has anyone had success with NZ routes in business class that are a bit more reasonable?

Points Expiration

I just got a notice from American Airlines that my points are expiring. What other hotels and airline dewpoints expire from? I know JetBlue has a lifetime points policy, so trying to figure out where I actually need to use points from in the near future.
