The Citi Strata Card is a no annual fee card that punches well above its weight, offering 3x points on supermarkets, gas, transit, and a self-select category you can customize each quarter, plus 2x points on dining. On its own, the card has some limitations, including a 3% foreign transaction fee and reduced transfer ratios to airline partners. Where it really shines is as part of a broader Citi ThankYou setup, since pairing it with a higher tier Strata card unlocks full 1:1 transfer ratios across all partners, including American AAdvantage. It's best as a complement to one of the premium Citi cards, filling in bonus categories like supermarkets and transit while adding no annual fee drag to your overall card strategy.
