Update: This offer for the Barclaycard Arrival® Plus World Elite Mastercard® has expired. Learn more about the current offers here.
Since last September, there has been a 50,000 point sign-up bonus on the Barclaycard Arrival® Plus World Elite Mastercard®. This is the highest ever bonus we’ve seen on the card, and is 25% higher than the bonus was previously.
While the bonus was originally supposed to be around for a few months, I guess it performed really well, so they decided to keep it around longer. While nothing has publicly been announced, it’s my understanding that the increased sign-up bonus on the Arrival Plus will be pulled in the coming days, so if you haven’t yet applied, I’d recommend doing so as soon as possible. As a reminder, the Barclaycard Arrival Plus is offering a sign-up bonus of 50,000 bonus miles after you spend $3,000 on purchases in the first 90 days. On top of that, the card’s $89 annual fee is waived the first year.
While Barclays markets the currency earned on the Barclaycard Arrival Plus as miles, in reality the card offers cashback towards travel. That’s to say that each mile can be redeemed for one cent towards the cost of a travel purchase.
You can redeem points by requesting a statement credit for your purchase within 120 days, and points can be redeemed towards purchases with airlines, hotels, motels, timeshares, campgrounds, car rental agencies, cruise lines, travel agencies, discount travel sites, trains, buses, taxis, limousines, and ferries (as defined by the merchant code).
That means the 50,000 miles can be redeemed for $500 towards travel.
On top of that, you get 5% miles back every time you redeem. So if you redeemed 50,000 miles for a $500 travel purchase you’d get another 2,500 miles, which you could eventually redeem for $25 towards a travel purchase (though the minimum redemption amount is 10,000 miles/$100).
Long term this card can also be pretty rewarding. You earn 2x miles per dollar spent, meaning in reality you’re getting two cents towards the cost of a travel purchase per dollar spent, plus another 5% after you redeem those points, for a return of 2.1%+, which is great.
The Barclaycard Arrival Plus is one of the best travel cashback credit cards out there. This is the best offer we’ve seen on the card, and the bonus should be pulled in the next several days, so you’ll want to apply soon if you’ve been considering this card. You’re getting a sign-up bonus worth $525+ with no annual fee the first year, which is fantastic.
On top of that, it’s a card that can be great long term, given that it offers the equivalent of a 2.1%+ return on travel spend. If you haven’t yet signed up for the card, I’d seriously considering doing so while this excellent offer is still around.
