Amazing Deal: Up To 25% Off Amazon With Chase

In the interest of full disclosure, One Mile At A Time earns a referral bonus for purchases made through some of the below links. These are products and services we use ourselves, and are the best offers we know of. Check out our Advertising Policy for further details. Thanks for your support!

This is the most popular time of year for online shopping, given all the sales happening around Black Friday and Cyber Monday. With Amazon being the single biggest online retailer through which people shop, it’s pretty awesome that those of us in the miles & points world have even more ways to save.

Recapping the Amex 20% off Amazon promo

As I wrote about a couple of days agoAmazon is offering 20% off when you use American Express Membership Rewards points to pay for at least part of your purchase. Note that it’s possible not everyone will be eligible — you’ll have to check at the registration link.

The maximum discount is $100, meaning this is valid for a purchase of up to $500. The process of taking advantage of this is easy:

  • You first have to activate the offer by clicking the “Click to activate” button on this page (most people report being eligible for the offer, though some may not be)
  • Then add eligible items to your shopping cart, which includes virtually anything that is sold and shipped by Amazon
  • At check-out use at least one Membership Rewards point for your purchase (and that’s exactly what I’d do — I recommend redeeming exactly one point)

There’s a similar offer from Chase!

Chase is potentially offering an even bigger discount (as a percentage), though the cap is much lower. Specifically, you can get $15 off when you redeem Chase Ultimate Rewards for a purchase of $60 or more — that’s up to 25% off.

Not everyone will be eligible, so you can check your eligibility by trying to register at this link.

I actually wasn’t eligible a couple of days ago, but when I checked this morning I was eligible.

The process for taking advantage of this is similar to taking advantage of the Amex deal:

  • You first have to activate the offer by clicking the “Click to activate” button on this page (most people report being eligible for the offer, though some may not be)
  • Then add eligible items to your shopping cart, which includes virtually anything that is sold and shipped by Amazon
  • At check-out use at least one Ultimate Rewards point for your purchase (and that’s exactly what I’d do — I recommend redeeming exactly one point)

If you are eligible for the promo, just about all items fulfilled directly by Amazon qualify, including third party gift cards. So you can buy cards from popular companies like StarbucksUberSouthwest AirlinesAirbnbHotels.comWhole Foods, and more. If you’d spend money with these companies anyway, you might as well score 25% off. Just make sure you see the discount reflected when you finalize the purchase.

For example, you could buy a $60 Starbucks gift card or Uber gift card for $44.99 plus one Ultimate Rewards point.

Bottom line

Both of these offers are no brainers if you’re eligible, and between the two you could be looking at $115 off purchases of $560. When you combine that with the other deals out there right now, that’s a pretty awesome return.

Comments

  1. Amazing deal? Really? I love this blog but it reads more like clickbait and lazy journalism (James) every day 🙁

  2. @ Boco — I’m sorry you feel that way. I truly believe what I’m saying here. Saving 20-25% on Amazon (where I spend money anyway, and which typically has the best prices for what many of us would buy) is pretty awesome to me. I’ve taken advantage of both of these offers, and it’s literally the equivalent of $115 in my pocket.

I already earn 5x points on Amazon purchases, so when you combine earning 5x points with saving 20-25%, that’s awesome, as far as I’m concerned.

  3. Two days ago, I tried to register and was told “not eligible”. Just tried a minute ago. Success!

    So everybody should keep trying…

Also it says promo ends when 104666 have been redeemed.

I’m gonna use it right way.

  4. Tried a few days ago, “not eligible”

    Tried again today: ‘fuhgeddaboudit”. 🙁

Wondering if those who are “eligible” are people who haven’t been buying on Amazon lately? Anyone who is Prime and a regular shopper there get approved?

Other than world famous bloggers, obviously. 😉

  5. @ Robert Hanson. The offer just became available to me today. I’ve been Prime for years with over 50 purchases YTD.

  6. No luck – for those who were successful please post what flavour Amex you linked (Plat Personal, Plat Business, Gold Personal, Gold Business, Blue.

Maybe eligibility is determined by Amex Card type

  7. Personal accounts not eligible for Chase offer but Amazon Biz account was (linked to Ink Plus). AMEX all three of our accounts were eligible (wife, mine and biz) and we had Plats and EDP linked.
