A Royal (dis)HHonor: Singapore Airlines Silver Kris Lounge Singapore

We arrived at Changi Airport terminal two at around 7:30AM.

We quickly found the SilkAir business class check-in counter, where there was no queue. Within a couple of minutes our boarding passes were printed and we were invited to use the Silver Kris Lounge.

At Changi Airport security is at the individual gates, so we only had to clear immigration before proceeding “airside.”

Once airside it was a short walk to the Silver Kris Lounge.

Before terminal three opened, this Silver Kris Lounge was their main one, and I was never terribly impressed by it. Fortunately they have renovated it since the one in terminal three opened, so it’s not half bad, though I still always go to the terminal three Silver Kris Lounge when possible. There are also no shortage of options available if you have a credit card with lounge access in Singapore!

The lounge is spacious though dark due to a lack of natural light, though it has plenty of seating. That being said it was a relative zoo given that mornings are pretty busy at Changi due to the flights arriving from Europe and elsewhere.

There’s also a small business center with desktop computers and workstations.

Business center

We had breakfast at the hotel so didn’t partake in the food spread, though there was a decent selection of muesli, fruit, croissants, muffins, pastries, cheese, finger sandwiches, and hot dishes.

The Wi-Fi in the lounge was on the slow side though not excruciatingly so.

At around 8:20AM we left the lounge for our departure gate, E7, which was about a 10-minute walk away.

Walkway to gate

Unfortunately the security checkpoint there was shared with a few gates, so the queue was fairly long. We still managed to clear right as boarding began at around 8:45AM.

Hello. I've been reading your blog with great interest for while. Please moderate LAX, it's offensive. Keep on the great work, and all the best. VdN

Changi is definitely the best airport in the world with HKG very close in second place.

@ Lucky - I think it warrants moderating.

@ Moody -- Yeah, don't really get it either. Not spam in the sense that he's promoting another site or anything, so not sure if this falls under the category of something I should moderate or not.

What's with LAX? Crazy much with this similar comment in the recent posts?

Definitely prefer the T2 one to the T3 SKL as it's significantly less packed especially during the 10pm to midnight rush... the shower rooms are better too IMO.

@ Sam -- Since I don't quite have the budget for an editor I always appreciate when my typos are pointed out so I can correct them before too many people read the report.

Brewer needs to get a life instead of nitpicking.

Matt C, due to HHonor's massive devaluation and Ben's need to burn as many points as possible before it took effect.

@ Matt C -- "Royal" refers to the Royal Jordanian flight, which was the most memorable aspect of the trip. And (dis)HHonor refers to Hilton HHonors which caused this trip due to their award chart devaluation, which was, well, dishonorable. :D

    Yes, it's a bit abstract...

@Matt C, it might have something to do with the Conrad Koh Samui since that's the only hotel on this trip series that's owned by Hilton.

  12. Matt C Guest

why is this series called a "royal dishonor?

  13. LAX Guest

did you dance around the buffet area in g strings ben?

  14. lucky OMAAT

    @ BrewerSEA -- Fixed, thanks!

"At Changi Airport immigration is at the individual gates, so we only had to clear immigration before proceeding 'airside.'"

Small typo, first 'immigration' should be security.
