One of the many reasons I love (hate?) flying

It has been forever since I’ve taken pictures of meals on domestic flights because it’s always the same thing. But I got talked into getting an iPhone this past week, so I figured I might as well take some meal pictures to see how the picture quality turned out. Well, I didn’t figure they’d be worth posting, other than the fact that I realized just how much food I’m consuming on these mileage runs. Fortunately I’ve been working out every day, but still, multiply this by 52 weeks a year and it doesn’t paint a pretty picture.

Interestingly enough I’m reading a book entitled “Mindless Eating — Why We Eat More Than We Think” for one of my marketing classes. Ain’t that the truth?

Why We Eat More Than We Think? Because eating is easier than thinking!

@ Betsey - no, that appears to be several flights worth of food:

The first picture is what United serves for breakfast from certain outstations that don't feature catering, the food is flown in the night before, then served the next day, all in a delightful plastic tray.

The second through sixth pictures appear to be a transcon dinner.

The final picture is a normal United breakfast.

Can I just say . . . whenever they bring out Mrs. Field's cookies (eastbound transcons in my experience, or maybe just pm flights), I always ask the flight attendant's for a 2nd one. Is that a bad thing? :-)

Hi Brandon - a serious question doesn't deserve a smarta** comment. Not all of us have been so fortunate.......some people don't fly because they need to care of handicapped people from some fricken drunk driver. They read travel blogs to dream......

"Okay, I’ve never flown first - yet. Is that really how much food you receive for flying from one San Francisco to Washington, all within the USA?"

Actually Betsy that's all before takeoff. You ought to see the hand carved slabs of beef at dinner, with the black tuxedoed waiters serving it!

Does the book you're reading suggest tracking every calorie eaten as a way to stay on track? I've seen studies that those who track see a double digit % increase in success.

Hey lucky, you know, you don't *need* to eat everything they offer. ;)
