Originally I wasn’t planning on staying at the Hyatt Place Yerevan. However, after getting to the airport at 12:30AM, I was informed that my flight had been delayed by about 10 hours due to fog, meaning I needed a hotel for the night. Technically I could have probably checked back in at the Marriott. After all, I paid to stay until later that day. However, since I had checked out already, that seemed like it could get complicated.
Instead I decided to check out the Hyatt Place. It was priced around the same, so I paid ~70USD for my short stay there.
The Hyatt Place is very close to the Marriott, meaning it’s about a 15 minute drive from the airport. While the Marriott has a great location on Republic Square, the Hyatt Place is a couple of blocks away on a much quieter side street.

Based on the exterior, the Hyatt Place looked more to me like an office building than a hotel.

Since I arrived at the hotel at around 3AM, the lobby was dead. The check-in process was efficient, and the two people working the night shift were young and chirpy. I was told that the complimentary breakfast was served from 6:30AM until 10:30AM (7AM until 11AM on weekends).

The lobby was pretty typical of what you’d find at a Hyatt Place anywhere, with a a cafe area, a bar, some general lobby seating, and a business center.

The elevators were right across from reception, and I took one up to the fourth floor, where my room was located.

I was assigned room #412.

I thought the room at the Hyatt Place was lovely — it was spacious and modern.

The room featured a king size bed, a sofa with an ottoman, a desk, and a wall-mounted TV.

The desk area was quite large. In addition to the desk itself, there was also a kettle with coffee and tea, a mini-fridge, and a bottle of water.

Next to that was a closet.

My room looked out over a parking lot and some nearby buildings, so the views weren’t exactly impressive (though they were still better than my views from the Marriott).

The bathroom was back near the entrance, and had a sink, toilet, and walk-in shower with a sliding glass door.

The water pressure in the shower was excellent.

Toiletries were in individual containers (unlike some other limited service hotels, where they have reusable containers in the shower), and were fine.

I ended up only getting about three hours of sleep, and woke up at around 7AM and went to breakfast. While complimentary breakfast is a standard Hyatt Place feature, I’ve never seen a Hyatt Place with a breakfast this good (in fairness, this was also my first non-US Hyatt Place stay).
The dining area had a good amount of seating, and was wide open when I visited (much like the Marriott, I got the sense that this hotel was mostly empty).

The only other noteworthy amenity of the hotel is the gym, which can be accessed 24/7, and was extremely basic.

At around 9AM I took a taxi back to Yerevan Airport, hoping for better luck with my flight this time around.

While I was only at the hotel for a few hours, I was impressed. Physically I thought it was one of the nicer Hyatt Places I’ve stayed at, though what really impressed me was the breakfast, as all the Hyatt Place properties I’ve stayed at in the US had much more limited breakfast buffets. I’m not sure if this spread is pretty standard for their international properties, or if this one was actually above average.
Stayed here 1 night at the end of my Armenia trip. Staff were great, very friendly and helpful. Breakfast pix are very nice but not what I experienced: at the time I was there it was really mobbed and staff really struggled to keep everything stocked so it wasn’t the most pleasant breakfast for me.
Wow. Hyatt is so consistent with their furniture. That looks exactly like every other Hyatt Place I’ve stayed in.
Nothing about that column between the bed and the window? For a single traveler, it doesn't look like it would be an issue, bit for a couple, it looks like it would be annoying for whoever has that side of the bed.

Was this delay covered by any credit card delay insurance? Would be great if you did a write up on the process for getting reimbursed (I don't recall if an article was already written on your blog about this in the past).
I'd be interested to know how often you actually check out of hotels. In the US I almost never actually checkout. Overseas it depends on the chain i am staying at if i would checkout or not.
I tend to find Hyatt Place's actually have the nicest breakfast spreads of any US chain hotel. Certainly better than what you'd get at your average Hampton, Fairfield, Element, or Holiday Inn or what you'd find at a Sheraton club lounge. Some even have some nice local stuff (I think the one in Portland, ME had local cheeses and smoked meats as well as local pastries) Also points for serving on real plates.

Where the chain does consistently let me down is in the gym category. That gym is par for almost every Hyatt Place I've stayed at and it's baffling that they have the worst gyms of any hotel in their class given how forward thinking the rest of the chain is.
Property looks quite nice.
To your question, I stayed at Hyatt Places in Amsterdam and Bangkok -- both had far superior breakfast spreads than in the USA.

I'm very impressed that you can still review a hotel properly after checking in at 3am!
